The new radio single by Three Bridges is the song, “Shadrach”. First of all, you have to know that Elliot McCoy of Three Bridges has a knack for not only picking songs … but finding songs … when it comes time to record a new project … he can “hear” a song and whether or not it will fit what the group is wanting to achieve when they’re planning on recording a new album.
As the group was looking to record songs for their ‘Twelve’ album, Elliott remembered one from an old Ames Brothers album. The song was called “Shadrach”. “Shadrach” was actually a popular song written by Robert MacGimsey in the 1930’s and performed by Louis Armstrong, The Ames Brothers, The Golden Gate Quartet, The Fairfield Four, Benny Goodman and many others. In 1962 the song was a hit single for Brook Benton, peaking at #19 in Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
Of course the song tells the story of the Three Hebrew Children and their deliverance from the fiery furnace, and Three Bridges gives a great rendition that will introduce some Southern Gospel radio listeners to a “new song” and that all are sure to love.
